Silk screen – Tile Art
We produce original drawings with cuttings, pictures,
and prints of mountains in Shinshu (Nagano Prefecture),
featuring the Northern Alps, mountain homes,
rural landscapes, and the natural beauty of the four
seasons. “Tile Art” is made from a plate with silk screen,
based on original drawings, by hand printing each color
one by one on the tile and board.
Non-glossy paint is used, highlighting the texture of the tiles.
Paints are fixed with a special solvent rather than kiln-fired.
We use paint that is durable and of beautiful color.
Avoid using detergent to clean the plates; rather, wipe gently
with a soft cloth or tissue paper.
Wood Art-Moku-hekiga
“Wood paintings,” known as “moku-hekiga,” are created from
wooden shapes fitting together like a puzzle, using the color of the
wood, its grain, warm and gentle texture, and natural energy.
We use more than 20 types of wood, all solid and undyed,
making use of the color of the wood itself.
Pieces are finished with UV-protective urethane paint.
Production consists of designing the image, raising thepattern
paper, cutting out each part of the pattern separately, and pasting
it ontothe selected board.
At this point, we consider the type and color of the wood, grain etc.
We select and paste wooden pieces as though they were different
pigments on a painting. We also alterthe thickness of the board and
finish it into a three-dimensional work.
We then cut out the parts affixed to the board carefully with a
jigsaw, polish each piece of wood one by one, then assemble and
glue them to the board before finishing.
We draw mountain flowers, mountain scenery and so on.
We create works that tell stories with a gentle humor that makes
you laugh in spite of yourself.
